Bio .
Jaulthie Atkinson, aka Troy Bronxz hails from Kingston, Jamaica and fell in love with music when he first heard a Shabba Ranks song on a sound system close to his home. Shabba’s unique sound and incredible voice got his attention, and he knew from that moment music was going to play a role in his life. He then started performing at school concerts and his popularity grew among his schoolmates and in his community.
During the political strife in Jamaica in the early eighties, Bronxz and his family were forced to leave their home in Kingston, and they moved to Grove Farm a small farming district in the parish of St Catherine. He was introduced to the area sound Survivor International where he honed his skills performing at dances and parties in surrounding areas. He became a local celebrity and started performing on several sound systems, travelling to different parishes throughout Jamaica.
In the early 1990’s, Troy Bronxz did his first studio recording titled ‘Mr Bigman’, produced by Alfred Mairs on his Hardcore Syndicate Label. He then started recording dubplates at Arrows, King Jammy and Penthouse studios, getting exposure to several producers who loved his style and started to work with him. He recorded songs like ‘Leave’, ‘State of Mind’, ‘Better Ways’ and ‘Life Nice’ for Akeebu Records.‘Glad Yu Never Cut’, ‘Hard Work’ and ‘Mountains’ for New Life Records to name a few.
His single ‘Black Falcon’ a collaboration with English rapper Crusada, propelled Bronxz career to another level in 2020 and introduced him to a new audience that has embraced his music and created a buzz around his name worldwide. Current songs like ‘Clock’s Ticking’ with Crusada, ‘Full Control’ and his latest single ‘Bruk Pocket’, are currently on radio playlists in the UK, Canada, USA, parts of Africa and Jamaica.
He has graced the stage with some of Jamaica’s foremost artists like Luciano, Khago, Junior Reid, Red Rat, General Degree and Gumption Band. Troy Bronxz is currently working with Canadian record label Phylani Music. Look out for new singles and an EP coming soon.
